ACT WISELY

GOD’S BLUE PRINT

Colossians 6-4:2

Pastor Daniel Cassels

May 7, 2017

SPIRITUAL ACTION

1. MAKE GOD YOUR ________ & _________ HIM!

Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving. Colossians (CSB4:2 )

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer. Romans 12:12 (HCSB)

Rejoice always! Pray constantly. Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 (HCSB)

…keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne. Hebrews 12:2 (HCSB)

2. ASK FOR __________________ TO DO WHAT GOD WANTS

At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains, so that I may make it known as I should. Colossians 4-4:3 (CSB)

Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. Ephesians 6:19 (HCSB)

The spiritual person, however, can evaluate everything, yet he himself cannot be evaluated by anyone. For

who has known the Lord’s mind, that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:15–16 (HCSB)

LIVING ACTION

1. ACT ________________, YOU ________________ GOD

Act wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Colossians (CSB4:5 )

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:15–17 (ESV)

2. SPEAK _____________ THE TRUTH _________________

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person. Colossians 4:6 CSB()

Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:3–4 (HCSB)

Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, accepting one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive. Above all, put on love—the perfect bond of unity. And let the peace of the Messiah, to which you were also called in one body, control your hearts. Be thankful. Let the message about the Messiah dwell richly among you, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:12–16 (HCSB)
