TEACHING TO FOLLOW

John 2:1-11

Pastor Daniel Cassels

October 20, 2019

1. FOLLOW GOD’S ___________ On the third day a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’s mother was there, and 2 Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding as well. 3 When the wine ran out, Jesus’s mother told him, “They don’t have any wine.”  4 “What does that have to do with you and me,, woman?” Jesus asked. “My hour has not yet come.” John 2:1–4

Jesus spoke these things, looked up to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you… John 17:1

29 Suddenly they shouted, “What do you have to do with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?” Matthew 8:29

2. FOLLOWING INVOLVES THE ________________ 5 “Do whatever he tells you,” his mother told the servants.  6 Now six stone water jars had been set there for Jewish purification. Each contained twenty or thirty gallons.  7 “Fill the jars with water,” Jesus told them. So they filled them to the brim. 8 Then he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the headwaiter.” And they did. John 2:5–8

9 Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5–6
3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Hebrews 1:3

3. FOLLOWING ______________ OTHERS TO GOD 9 When the headwaiter tasted the water (after it had become wine), he did not know where it came from—though the servants who had drawn the water knew. He called the groom 10 and told him, “Everyone sets out the fine wine first, then, after people are drunk, the inferior. But you have kept the fine wine until now.” 11 Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him. John 2:9–11

6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

14 And we have seen and we testify that the Father has sent his Son as the world’s Savior. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God—God remains in him and he in God. 16 And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.  1 John 4:14–16

9 He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began. 2 Timothy 1:9
