Matthew 22:37–40

1. What is worship? LIVING _________ CENTERED LIVES

Worship Def: To give worth or value to someone or something. The word worship really just expresses who or what we find most valuable and satisfying.

He said to him, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands." Matthew 22:37–40 (HCSB)

We give worship to anything that our life is centered on…

1. When you are alone where does your mind tend to go? (What do you worry about or dwell on?)

2. What in your life, if taken away from you would cause you the most despair?

3. What energizes you the most? Captivates you the most? Motivates you the most?

4. What based on your daily live and the things you like to talk about would others say you’re about?

Whatever is most common answer among those questions is what you worship!

For this is what love for God is: to keep His commands. Now His commands are not a burden, because whatever has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith. And who is the one who conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:3–5 (HCSB)

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:1-4 (ESV)

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:5 (ESV)

2. How Do We Worship? LIVING EVERY ___________ FOR GOD

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2 (ESV)

The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:39 (HCSB)

3. What brings us to worship? WHAT GOD HAS __________ FOR ME

We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19-21 (HCSB)

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. Psalm 68:19 (ESV)

Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. But endurance must do its complete work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.

James 1:2–4 (HCSB)

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 (ESV)
