1. DON’T FOCUS ON THE _______________
35 On that day, when evening had come, he told them, “Let’s cross over to the other side of the sea.” 36 So they left the crowd and took him along since he was in the boat. And other boats were with him. 37 A great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. 38 He was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. So they woke him up and said to him, “Teacher! Don’t you care that we’re going to die?” Mark 4:35–38
5 The sailors were afraid, and each cried out to his god. They threw the ship’s cargo into the sea to lighten the load. Meanwhile, Jonah had gone down to the lowest part of the vessel and had stretched out and fallen into a deep sleep. 6 The captain approached him and said, “What are you doing sound asleep? Get up! Call to your god., Maybe this god will consider us, and we won’t perish.” Jonah 1:5–6
27 Can any of you add one moment to his life span by worrying? Matthew 6:27
5 I lie down and sleep; I wake again because the Lord sustains me. Psalm 3:5
8 I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, Lord, make me live in safety. Psalm 4:8
2. WHERE DOES YOUR FAITH __________?
39 He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Silence! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 Then he said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Mark 4:39–40
25 Jesus rebuked him saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” Mark 1:25
29 He stilled the storm to a whisper, and the waves of the sea were hushed. 30 They rejoiced when the waves grew quiet. Then he guided them to the harbor they longed for. Psalm 107:29–30
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight. 7 Don’t be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Proverbs 3:5–7
Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen. 2 For by it our ancestors won God’s approval. Hebrews 11:1–2
41 And they were terrified, and asked one another, “Who then is this? Even the wind and the sea obey him!” Mark 4:41
17 He is before all things, and by him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17
3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Hebrews 1:3
6 Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6
